We are an indie book publisher in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, here to help you stop dreaming about becoming a published author and actually make it happen. Whether you are looking for a traditional publishing contract, guidance on the inner workings of the publishing industry, or a few targeted services to aid your self publishing endeavors,
Pen & Pad Publishing can help.
Pen & Pad Publishing was founded in 2010 by journalist Jasmin Melvin Hudson to give voice to the amazing storytellers and writers she found herself in the company of but who had few outlets to successfully get their literary works turned into published novels. The company at first only offered editing services for manuscripts. At the time, the economy was in disarray, book sales were down, and the disruptive technology unleashed by e-readers had many in the industry scrambling to understand the new normal. But there were still stories that needed telling, which pushed Jasmin to form an LLC in 2011 that could help bring more of these stories to readers around the world by embracing new technologies that were making it possible for smaller publishing houses to hold their own in the market.
Jumping ahead, Stephen Carr joined the company in 2016, bringing a mashup of writing, philosophy and IT skills to the small press and reinvigorating the company's internship program.
Pen & Pad Publishing kicked off 2017 with a major re-branding, complete with a revamped logo and website overhaul. The company also expanded its repertoire into consulting and an array of services for self-publishing authors.
